Professional exterior house painting across the Hunter
We deliver exterior house painting throughout Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland and the wider Hunter, working the coastal suburbs most exposed to the elements, including Merewether, Bar Beach, Redhead, Warners Bay, Belmont and Charlestown. As experienced house painters we know the local conditions, the substrates common to Hunter homes and the coatings that hold up against them.
What sets us apart is the detail. We don’t rush the preparation, we protect your property as we go, and we finish clean. Exterior work is part of our full residential painting services, and every project is fully licensed (Lic No. 459336C), fully insured and backed by a 5.0 rating on Google and a 5-year workmanship warranty. Painting inside too? We also offer interior painting, so we can refresh your complete home in one tidy project.
Surfaces we paint
Every exterior surface, matched to the right system
Different surfaces need different systems, and getting the match right is what makes a finish last. Not sure what your home is clad in? We identify every surface during your site inspection and recommend the right system for each.
Weatherboard & timber
Timber moves, splits and weathers, so it needs careful prep and a flexible coating that breathes.
Render & masonry
Render and brick need breathable coatings that resist cracking and lock out moisture.
Fibre-cement & cladding
Modern cladding and sheeting call for the right primer and topcoat to seal the substrate properly.
Eaves, fascias & gutters
Painting fascias and gutters helps prevent rust and rot, protecting the structure behind them.
Doors, windows & trims
Front doors, window frames and decorative trims finished in hard-wearing gloss to lift kerb appeal.
Fences & decks
Add-on services to tie the whole property together for a complete, considered finish.
How it works
A clear, stress-free process
Prep & coatings
The finish that lasts is in the prep
Surface preparation is where a paint job is won or lost, and it is the stage other painters are tempted to cut short. We never do. Our prep sequence never varies:
- Wash and decontaminate: high-pressure clean to strip salt, dirt, mould and chalking
- Scrape, sand and feather back all loose and flaking paint to a smooth base
- Fill and repair gaps, cracks and timber or render damage so the surface is sound
- Spot-prime or fully prime bare and repaired areas to seal the substrate
- Protect windows, doors, floors, furniture and gardens with drop sheets
- Two full coats of a durable coating system, tidy clean-up every day
Premium coatings, matched to each substrate and coastal exposure:

Built for the coast
Coatings that hold up in the Hunter climate
Living near the water is a privilege, but it is tough on paint. Coastal salt air, intense UV and constant humidity break standard coatings down far faster near the coast than they do inland, which is why coastal Hunter homes typically need repainting around every 5 to 7 years while sheltered inland homes can go 7 to 15. A generic product simply won’t go the distance in Merewether or Redhead.
We specify weather-resistant systems built for coastal exposure, chosen to be flexible, breathable and UV-stable, and apply two full coats over primer. On rendered and masonry walls a breathable coating is not optional: render holds moisture, and a film that can’t let it escape will bubble and flake from behind. A breathable membrane moves with the wall and lets trapped moisture out, which is exactly what prevents the premature peeling you see on so many coastal homes.
This considered approach is what underpins our 5-year workmanship warranty. We can stand behind the finish because we build durability in from the substrate up.
Colour & kerb appeal
A free colour consultation on every job
Colour is where the transformation happens, so you’re never left guessing what will suit your home. We help you choose a palette that works with your roof, your surrounds and the coastal light, and we can steer you toward heat-reflective tones that help keep the home cooler through summer.
We also recommend the right sheen for each surface, from a durable satin on the walls that keeps its look and is easy to maintain, to a tough, easy-clean gloss on doors and trims. The right scheme lifts street appeal instantly and adds real value, whether you’re staying put or getting ready to sell.

What it covers
- Peeling, blistering or cracking caused by how we prepared or applied the paint
- Coating failure traced to our workmanship within the five-year term
- Putting our work right if a covered fault appears, at no cost to you
What it doesn’t
- Pre-existing structural or moisture problems we flagged and you chose not to address
- Damage from later alterations or work carried out by others

Exterior FAQ
Common questions about exterior painting
How much does it cost to paint a house exterior in Newcastle?
It depends on the size, number of storeys and condition of your home. As rough guidance, smaller single-storey homes sit at the lower end and larger double-storey homes at the higher end. Because prep and repairs vary so much between homes, the only accurate figure is a free on-site quote, given as a fixed price in writing with no hidden costs.
Can I just paint over old or peeling exterior paint?
No. Painting over peeling or flaking paint traps the problem and the new coat will fail. The surface must be washed, scraped, sanded and primed first. This prep work is what protects both the finish and your warranty, which is why we never skip it.
How often should you repaint a coastal Hunter home?
As a general guide, coastal Hunter homes typically need repainting around every 5 to 7 years, while more sheltered inland homes can go around 7 to 15 years. The salt air, humidity and UV near the water simply wear coatings down faster.
What’s the best time to paint outside in Newcastle?
Spring and autumn are ideal, with mild, stable conditions that help coats cure properly. We generally avoid painting in high-summer humidity and won’t apply coats if rain is likely within 24 to 48 hours, as moisture affects the finish.
Do you charge a daily rate?
No. We quote a fixed project price agreed in writing before we start, so you know the full cost upfront. There are no hourly or daily charges and no surprises at the end.
